The only place in Tohoku that appeared in the Kojiki, the oldest history book in Japan. A very mysterious place.
Tamurayama Tomb is 24.85 m long and 2.15m high; it is shaped like a large keyhole. It was constructed more than 1,200 years ago; extremely rare Tohoku artifacts, including mirrors with classic floral-designs and straight swords have been excavated from this location. The swords have been designated a Important Cultural Asset by the prefecture. The Tomb is the only place in Tohoku featured in the Kojiki. The tomb has a variety of mysterious legends and happenings associated with it.
